So, I got home tonight and was totally amped up to play some RE5. I turned on my PS3, which I haven’t done in ages, and had to install a new System Update. I let it sit there for a while so it could do it’s thing, I even chatted a bit with Azn and Blackrobe. Surfed the net for a bit, read some news, and went to check on it again. Still, nothing. I continued to fuck around, picked at some leftover pasta which absolutely was not appetizing. Checked on the fucking PS3 again, still installing. I got kind of bored with it and flipped a coin to see if I was going to buy more sleeping pills, since I was sadly out of them. Heads was the answer and I went off. I left the PS3 on to install RE5 while I went to the closest 24 hour pharmacy. I even got lost coming back because it was randomly raining. Came back to my apartment, got dressed in my PJ’s ready to rock and roll… and surprise, surprise, the PS3 was still installing RE5.
At this point I kind of was annoyed that the whole thing took an hour and a half to finally be up to date, but Jesus CHRIST! I might just be too ADD for such things. Not saying that it isn’t worth the wait, (because I’d wait forever and a day for Resident Evil-anything), but Oh my God. What is up with all this patience that technology is asking me to obtain? This isn’t the only time that I’ve had to be asked to wait. I downloaded Oregon Trail for the iPhone.
I’m not going to say much about the game ‘coz I want to actually review the damn thing properly, but I need to vent a bit about loading times. I don’t know if it’s outgrowing the PS2 days, but loading times/screens do nothing but test my patience. The damn game is so fucking good, and cute, and everything that you would expect from a 2009 version of The Oregon Trail, that I hate most of my time is spent waiting for a screen to load. They’re also doing some really lame shit by force-feeding some sort of historical fact while waiting for the screen to load. I just can’t enjoy the game if everytime I enter a new town, go hunt for animals, or fix my wagon, I have to wait a good 20-30 seconds for the screen to load. The actual game time spent in between loads is a maximum: 2 minutes. That’s 25% of my game time wasted on just sitting there waiting for it to fully load.
Now, I know an iPhone game comparison with a PS3 game is a bit uncalled for. I just have to admit that I lost any intention to kill some african-american zombies (and a little bit of those resembling spanish decent) and decided to bitch about it on my blog.
I’m sure I’ll be over it come tomorrow morning. Hopefully, more posters arrive and the mail man (who surprisingly pronounces my real name correctly) wakes me up and hands me my next beautiful poster. I currently have 3/7, but I still want to order a bit more. My ultimate goal is to rearrange some decorations in this shitty-but-cozy apartment/studio/shack of mine. It only makes my next place better pimped out in the future.

I feel you on those download times. when i had to download that update all i wanted to do was play some CoD4 and then had to wait for that shit to finish. An hour later i really didn’t even feel like it anymore. I thought it froze at one point because it was staying at 9% but after staring at it for a good 2 minutes it went to 10%.
That’s one of the goddamn fall backs about the PS3. Everytime you buy a new game, you’d have to wait for a long fucking while for it to finish installing.

@Moe – It’s just annoying to have to do everytime I want to play a new game. Installation on my PC doesn’t even take that fucking long.

PS3 load times are a total nightmare, I was installing an update once and waited that long for it I actually forgot I had the PS3 on in the back room and went off to the cinema…. Good times…

installations are sometimes a pain but since i turn on my ps3 for then you do I am up to date on firmware and shit. But Game installations take a while…but damn a hour and half…id say turn it on more often when you hear theres a firm ware update.
